Back in February 2023 you placed your votes and helped us choose our first ever Charity of the Year for Birmingham Cocktail Weekend.

You chose University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, the official NHS Charity for four hospitals across Birmingham. These include the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital which together make up the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust which is the largest hospital Trust in England.

UHB Charity exists to support medical and health research, and to encourage excellence in healthcare for patients and their carers. It raises money to provide world-class facilities for patients and their families at their four hospital sites that go over and above what the NHS can provide.

Donations from its supporters go on items such as cutting-edge equipment and ward refurbishments to toys and games for children while undergoing treatment. UHB Charity’s mission is to enhance the health and wellbeing of the community who use their services and improve the experience of patients and staff during their time in hospital.

We’re really pleased to share that through our ticketed events and the generous triple match scheme offered by Edrington UK, we have donated £1,240 to University Hospitals Birmingham Charity. In addition, festival sponsor William Grant & Sons also donated a prize that has supported UHBC in raising further funds!

Laura Power, Deputy Head of Fundraising, said: “We are delighted to have been picked as Charity of the Year for Birmingham Cocktail Weekend, thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for UHB Charity. We’re incredibly grateful to have received the donation of £1,240 from Birmingham Cocktail Weekend, our special thanks to Edrington UK and William Grant & Sons for their support also. This donation will allow the hospital charity to continue to go ‘over and above’ for our patients and staff and truly help us change and save lives across the West Midlands and beyond. We know Birmingham Cocktail Weekend was a great success and we are very grateful to have been a part of it.”

Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket to one of our festival events and thus supported our Charity of the Year for 2023!
